Adamski’s 1990 “Killer” propelled him to international stardom, and Boys Noize’s cover of the track in 2018 lead to an ongoing dialogue between the two producers. Now, in a special one-off release, Adamski brings a new EP, Black Star Acid to BNR.
The Black Star Acid EP is an exploration of the throughlines found in the decades of revolutionary musical innovations that infomed Adamski’s career. “Acid house” was an umbrella term for electronic music during the earliest years of the UK rave boom, and Adamski combines the pop fluidity of this era with the eternal, Roland hardware sound of acid house as it’s understood today. Both the title track of Black Star Acid and the b-side, “Baby Let’s Play Acid,” are booming, club-ready records, and are haunted by echos of Elvis as if captured from an old radio. Rather than feeling anachronistic, the combination reveals an essential energy shared across time. With Black Star Acid, Adamski proves both that rock n’ roll will never die, and rave is forever.
